Brunswick Troopers investigate fatal motor vehicle accident in Schaghticoke

PRESS RELEASEThe New York State Police in Brunswick responded to a two vehicle head on collision on State Route 40 in the Town of Schaghticoke North of Bracken Road this morning. William Rowe, 17, of Melrose was operating a 2014 Ford pick-up truck travelling North on State Route 40. Angel Martinez, 62, of Athens was operating a 2006 motor coach travelling South on State Route 40. The two vehicle’s collided and Rowe was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rensselaer County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

Rowe was travelling with a juvenile male in his vehicle who was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Martinez was transported to Albany Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Rowe was a senior at Hoosic Valley High School in Schaghticoke. School administration was contacted. The collision remains under investigation by members of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Melrose Fire Departments, Hoosic Valley EMS and Waterford Rescue Squad responded to assist.
