A busy Friday in Columbia County Court

On Friday, 28 year old Cassandra Palmatier was sentenced for setting a fire at 18 Worth Avenue in Hudson on April 11th, 2016. Hudson firemen had to rescue two residents of that building after fire blocked their escape. Palmatier plead guilty to 4th degree arson last November. She will spend the next 6th months in the Columbia County Jail, pay 19,000 dollars restitution, and serve 100 hours of community service.

Also in Columbia County Court yesterday, 29 year old Charles Stickles of Ghent was sentenced to one year in the Columbia County jail, after pleading guilty to vehicular assault. Stickles was behind the wheel April 26, 2016 when his truck struck a tree on Water Street in Ghent. A passenger in his vehicle was airlifted to Albany Med with serious injuries. Stickles fled the scene. He will also have to pay $48,402 restitution.

And the Greenport man, who admitted to stripping somebody else's car in the parking lot of Columbia Memorial in September 2015, was sentenced Friday to five years probation. 21 year old Darrin Graziano will also have to pay $4,395 in restitution.
