Winter Storm Warning Issued

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM EST THURSDAY... * 

LOCATIONS...Dutchess...Columbia and Ulster Counties 


* Snow Accumulations...6 to 12 inches. The higher totals in southern Dutchess and southeast Ulster Counties. * Maximum snowfall rates...1 to 2 inches an hour in the mid to late morning. 

* TIMING...A storm system tonight will bring snow into the region in the the early morning hours. The snow will become heavier and steadier during the morning commute and linger into the early to mid afternoon. 

* IMPACTS...Snow covered roads and poor visibilities leading to hazardous travel. * Winds...North 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. * Temperatures...In the 20s. 


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight... food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
