This afternoon, Greenport firemen were called to a reported structure fire at Plaza Court, 300 Town Hall drive. Arriving units found fire in the rear of the building on the deck of apartment C-1 on the deck. Firemen, and Greenport Police made quick work of the fire, and damage was kept to a minimum.
This evening, Greenport and Hudson firemen responded to 19 Riverview Boulevard for a fire in the attic. Arriving units found smoke showing, and the house was evacuated. The call came in about 7:20.

On Tuesday 2/28 Greenport Firefighters responded to 2 residential fires the first at 300 Town Hall Drive Apt complex where a fire was on an outside deck and wall which caused minor damage, Greenport Police and Fire extinguished the fire.
The Second fire was at a single family residence located at 19 Riverview Blvd where the lone occupant observed flames around light fixtures in the kitchen, she promptly called 911 and evacuated the residence, first arriving firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the attic area investigation revealed that there was a fire in the attic area over the kitchen, firefighters entered the attic thru a ladder access in the garage and extinguished the fire,
The residence sustained damage in the attic area and the kitchen ceiling had to be removed additionally there was smoke and water damage in other areas. The occupant was assisted by and stayed with neighbors. No injuries were reported. Greenport Fire Dept was on the scene for several hours and were assisted by the Hudson Fire Dept , Columbia County Fire Coordinators office & the Greenport Rescue Squad. The Fire Chief suspects the cause to be electrical.
