Eleven fire companies were on the scene of a house fire this morning in Chatham Center. The call came in around 11:30 at 840 White Mills Road, in the Tri-Village fire district. Arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the garage area and immediately put in the call for mutual aid. Quick work by firemen, were able to save the log style home. Fire companies that assisted Tri-Village include, Chatham, Valatie, Red Rock, East Chatham, Ghent, Canaan, Lebanon Valley, North Chatham, Niverville, and Austerlitz. We have not received any reports of injuries. The home is owned by a volunteer firefighter, who helped fight the fire.
