Several Columbia County Fire Companies were called to 211 Snyder Road in Ghent Monday afternoon. A controlled burn, that was not reported to Columbia County 911, got out of control, sparking a large brush fire. The fire also caught a barn on fire. Volunteers from Ghent, Chatham, and Austerlitz were on the scene just after 2pm. No reports of injuries.
