Two guilty verdicts in Columbia County Court

D.A. CZAJKA:  TWO GUILTY VERDICTS BY TWO JURIES BEFORE TWO JUDGES IN LESS THAN TWO HOURS

(Hudson, NY)

District Attorney Paul Czajka announced today that there were two (2) simultaneous trials this week in Columbia County Court, one prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty before Honorable Richard M. Koweek, the other, by Chief Assistant District Attorney James Carlucci before Honorable Jonathan D. Nichols. Both juries returned guilty verdicts early this afternoon.

People v. Dale Shannon

New York State Police Investigators charged Dale Shannon on May 4, 2016 with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree for having fired a .22 caliber rifle in the direction of another person. The victim, Investigators Jason Manchuck and Larry Domkoski, Troopers James Lydon and Christopher Link all testified for the prosecution. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty represented the People. Conflict Defender Mark Portin represented the defendant. Judge Koweek scheduled sentencing for June 12, 2017. Shannon could receive up to seven (7) years in prison.

People v. Aaron Silveraterry

New York State Police arrested Aaron Silveraterry on October 3, 2016 for Menacing a Police Officer after he pointed a knife at Troopers and a Deputy Sheriff who had been investigating a report of rocks being thrown at motor vehicles. Investigator Andrew Behrens, Trooper Eric Buchinsky and Deputy David Stevens testified for the People. Chief Assistant District Attorney James Carlucci represented the People. Assistant Public Defender Ian Crimmins represented the defendant. Judge Nichols scheduled sentencing for June 9, 2017. Silveraterry could receive up to seven (7) years in prison.
