Slope Repairs to Reduce Route 23A to Single Lane in Greene County
Motorists are advised that work to repair a series of slopes Route 23A between Haines Falls and Palenville, in the towns of Hunter and Catskill in Greene County, is scheduled to restart on Monday, April 10.
Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from April 10 to April 14, motorists may encounter flaggers along this stretch of Route 23A.
Starting Monday, April 17, traffic will be reduced to a single alternating lane controlled by traffic signals. The exact location of the lane closures will depend upon the pace of work on the slopes. However, no more than two temporary traffic signal pairs are expected to be active at any given time.
Work is expected to be completed by August. No full road closures are anticipated this year as part of this project.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
