Catskill, NY woman arrested for Leandra’s Law and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

PRESS RELEASECoeymans, NY – On April 9, 2017, at approximately 10:00 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 for a vehicle and traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, Alisha L. Cooper, age 37, of Catskill, NY, was found to be impaired by drugs while traveling with an 11 year old child. She was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany, where she was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). Cooper agreed to submit to a blood draw to determine the drug content in her system and was subsequently charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs with a Child; a Class E Felony
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th; Class A Misdemeanor
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violation

Cooper was turned over to a sober third party and released on Appearance tickets made returnable to the Town of Coeymans Court on May 5, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. The child was turned over to a responsible party.
