Firemen from four companies were called to the Hawthorne Valley Store on Route 21C this morning for a stove fire. Philmont, Mellenville, Austerlitz, and Ghent were dispatched by Columbia County 9-1-1 at 7am. Quick work by arriving units were able to put the fire out quickly. The building was evacuated. There were no reported injuries. The fire was declared officially out after about a half hour.
