Sheriff’s Office Hosts “Operation Take Back” this Saturday
Greenport, NY: Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that the next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in Columbia County, will be held this Saturday, April 29th, 2017
The Prescription Take-Back Day is a program held nationally by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, (DEA), and allows anyone who wishes to dispose of any potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs, to give them to law enforcement agencies who have partnered with the DEA. These agencies will then work with the DEA to dispose of the prescription drugs properly and safely.
There will be two Prescription Drug Drop Off locations in Columbia County. The first location will be at the Public Safety Facility located at 85 Industrial Tract in the Town of Greenport. The second location will be at the Sheriff’s Office Hillsdale Substation, located at 2684 State Route 23, in the Town of Hillsdale. Both locations will be accepting unused or unwanted prescription drugs from 10:00am until 2:00pm on Saturday April 29th, 2017
Needles, IV bags, creams or liquids cannot be accepted. These items usually have directions with them for proper disposal.
The drop off of unwanted prescription drugs is free and anonymous.

- Village of Coxsackie Police- 119 Mansion Street
- Hunter Town Hall- Route 23A Tannersville
- Windham Pharmacy
- CVS Pharmacy in Cairo
