Man killed by train in Columbia County

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING MAN STRUCK BY TRAIN

Stockport, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that the Sheriff’s Office received a call this morning at approximately1:59am that a Amtrak work train struck a person on the train tracks in the area of Station Road in the Town of Stockport.

Sheriff’s Deputies, Sheriff’s Office Investigators, and Amtrak Police responded to the area and upon arrival, they were able to locate the scene. A deceased unidentified male was located just north of the Columbiaville Trestle on the tracks.

The investigation is currently in the preliminary stages and Investigators are working on positively identifying the victim.

Assisting with this investigation is Columbia County Coroner Angelo Nero and the Amtrak Police.

Investigating on the scene for the Sheriff’s Office are Sheriff David Bartlett, Lieutenant Wayne Lopez, Senior Investigator Kevin Skype, Investigator Anthony Brahm, Sergeant Andrew Broockmann, and Deputy Ted Blank.
