On May 8, 2017 at 06:34am, Saugerties Police responded to the area Market Street incidental to receiving several calls for a reported Naked Man running down the street. Upon arrival officers located Daniel P. Stoltzfus, age 30, of 76 East Bridge Street, Village of Saugerties. Stoltzfus was naked and had removed an American flag off a flagpole from a residence on Market Street. Stoltzfus was observed spitting on the flag and wiping his buttocks with the flag.
Stoltzfus was taken into custody by police and transported to the Kingston Hospital for psychiatric evaluation under 9.41 of the Mental Hygiene Law. Criminal charges against Stoltzfus for Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct are pending.
