Catskill man accused of having stolen property

Trying to evade a vehicle and traffic checkpoint results in stolen property charges

PRESS RELEASE

State Police in Schodack arrested Kyle B. Dapson of Catskill, NY for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree (both Misdemeanors) on May 25, 2017. Upon observing a blue Ford Taurus try to avoid a Vehicle and Traffic Check Point on Columbia Turnpike in the Town of Schodack, Troopers later pulled the vehicle over when they were aware that the driver, Dobson, had a suspended driver’s license. Upon pulling the vehicle over, numerous unopened electrical equipment items were found in the back seat within plain view. Further investigation revealed that Dapson was on his way to pawn the items at a local store for money. The items are believed to be have been stolen from local hardware stores. The investigation is ongoing but Dapson was arrested for both charges and is expected to appear in the Town of East Greenbush Court on June 1, 2017.
