Ghent woman accused of using stolen debit card

DEPUTIES ARREST LOCAL WOMAN FOR POSSESSING AND USING A STOLEN DEBIT CARD

Chatham, NY- Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on June 5, 2017 at approximately 3:15pm, Deputies arrested 40 year old Jessica Kosnick of Ghent NY for one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony) and one count of Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor).

The investigation began on May 22, 2017, when a male victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office reporting that his debit card was stolen. Using bank surveillance videos and bank records, a suspect in the theft was identified.

Ms. Kosnick is accused of using the debit card on multiple occasions to make cash withdrawals from ATM’s in the Village of Chatham and the Town of Greenport.

She was arraigned in Greenport Town Court before the Honorable Judge Hill and released on her own recognizance. Ms. Kosnick will appear in the Village of Chatham Court at a later date.

Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office are Investigator Anthony Brahm, Investigator Patrick Logue, and K9 Deputy Travis VanAlstyne.
