Two serious accidents today

Fire and rescue crews were on the scene of two serious accidents Friday morning. The first was just before 6am, where a car allegedly ran a red light in Coxsackie at the Route 9W and 81 intersection. Two people were injured, including a 45 year old woman. There were reports that people may have been trapped in the car. 

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office issued this press release on the second accident, in Germantown

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATES PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT IN GERMANTOWN

Germantown, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on June 9, 2017 at approximately 11:42am, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to a two vehicle accident on Hover Avenue, at the intersection of Dales Bridge Road in the Town of Germantown.

Deputies found that a 2000 Honda Accord, operated by 73 year old Dirk Bambeck of Germantown NY, was pulling out onto Hover Avenue from Dales Bridge Road and into the path of a 2017 Kia sedan, which was traveling northbound on Hover Avenue. The Kia, operated by 31 year old Dylan Torchia of Valatie NY, struck the Honda in the northbound lane. Mr. Torchia sustained abrasions to his left arm and declined medical treatment at the scene.

Mr. Bambeck was entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Germantown Fire Department. Northern Dutchess Paramedics transported him to Albany Medical Center for a complaint of left side pain.

There were no passengers in either vehicle. At this time, the investigation is continuing and tickets are pending.

Northern Dutchess Paramedics, Germantown Fire Department, and Livingston Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office at the scene are Captain John DeRocha, Senior Investigator William Foster, and Deputy David Proper.
