A 19 year old male died this afternoon, in a swimming accident in Chatham. Crews were called to 33 River Road just after 4:30pm. The teen was swimming in the area of a railroad bridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Units involved were Chatham Fire Department, Hudson Dive Team, Niverville water rescue team, Columbia County Sheriff's Office dive team, and Greenport Rescue dive team. The teen's name has not been released yet. We hope to learn more from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
