Athens man charged after Albany traffic stop

Athens, NY man arrested for possessing marijuana following a traffic stop on the Thruway.

PRESS RELEASE

Albany, NY – On January 11, 2019 at approximately 10:45 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-787 in the city of Albany for a vehicle and traffic violation. 

During the interview of the driver Michael J. Beers, 24, of Athens, NY, for the traffic violation, probable cause to search the vehicle was established. During the search, Beers was found to be in possession of approximately 32 grams of marijuana. 

He was transported to SP Albany where he was processed without incident and charged with:

• Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th degree; a Class B Misdemeanor

• Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Beers was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the City of Albany Court on January 18, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
