More charges for former Taconic Hills Coach

Ex-VOLLEY BALL COACH ARRESTED FOR A SECOND TIME

COPAKE, NY- Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Christopher MacArthur, 23, of Claverack, NY on Wednesday May 22nd, 2019 at 7:00pm. Mr. MacArthur has been charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd degree and Tampering with a Witness in the 4th degree, both Class A Misdemeanors under the NYS Penal Law.

During this investigation it was determined that Mr. MacArthur had contacted the victim from his prior arrest as well as attempted to meet with that individual at an undisclosed location. His actions being a direct violation of an Order of Protection issued to him during his original arraignment on April 8th 2019.

Mr. MacArthur was previously arrested on April 8th 2019 by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Criminal Sexual Act in the third degree after an investigation was conducted and revealed that Mr. MacArthur had been involved in a sexual relationship with a person less than 17 years old.

Mr. MacArthur was employed by the Taconic Hills School District as a Substitute Teacher and as a Varsity Volley Ball coach when he was arrested on April 8th 2019 for the charge of Criminal Sexual Act in the third degree.

For this arrest Mr. MacArthur was arraigned before Judge John Spencer in the Copake Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail, Bail was set at $2000.00 cash or bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on June 24th, 2019 at 3:00pm.

The Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could possibly be used to identify the victim regarding either arrest.
