SHERIFF’S OFFICE EXECUTES SEARCH WARRANT IN KINDERHOOK
Kinderhook, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on Monday, June 24, 2019, three individuals were arrested for their involvement into illegal drug activity after a search warrant was executed in the Town of Kinderhook.
On June 24, 2019 at approximately 11:11am, members of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit, Criminal Investigative Branch, and uniformed Deputy Sheriff’s responded to the Blue Spruce Inn and Suites, located at 3093 State Route 9 in the Town of Kinderhook, to execute a search warrant for room #18, which was issued by Judge Jonathon Nichols, for the purpose of seizing items in reference to the possession and sale of narcotics. This warrant was the result of a three month criminal investigation.
Upon arrival to the location, Senior Investigator William Foster encountered a male suspect outside of the room, who attempted to flee through the parking lot and resist arrest while he was trying to discard the drugs that he was carrying. The search warrant covered a search of both the suspect’s person and his room at the Blue Spruce Inn and Suites where illegal drugs were located.
While executing the warrant, 9 grams of powdered heroin was recovered, which can be packaged into bags equivalent to more than 100 individual doses. The powdered heroin was field tested which indicated that it was laced with fentanyl. Additionally, two prepackaged bundles (20 doses) were also recovered. There was also 45 grams of crack cocaine seized, along with scales and packaging material used in the processing and packaging of heroin and crack cocaine. In addition, approximately $6,000 of US currency was located and seized.
The following individuals were arrested as a result of this investigation:
Devon C. Sisnett, 31, of 3093 State Route 9 Kinderhook, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the
Third Degree-intent to sell (Both Class B Felonies), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class C Felony), Tampering with physical evidence (Class E Felony), Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Both Class A Misdemeanors). He was arraigned before Judge Lisa Mills in Kinderhook Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu $25,000 bail or bond. He is scheduled back in court at a later date.
Kelsey D. Burgett, 24, of Germantown, and Tiffany J. Lanphear, of Hudson, were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor). Both individuals were issued an appearance ticket returnable to Kinderhook Town Court on July 9, 2019 at 5:00pm.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force (DEA), and the Watervliet Police Department.
Due to recent drug overdoses, this investigation is continuing. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit are looking into the stamps or markings and the packaging material to see if they can be linked to those overdoses in this area.
