Ghent man falls off moving motorcycle, faces felony charges

From Columbia County Sheriff’s Office:

Erik Olsen, 37, of Ghent, was arrested at 8:06 pm July 5 and charged with DWI-2 previous convictions (Class D Felony), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree (Class E Felony), unlicensed operator, unregistered motorcycle, operating with no insurance, and operating an uninspected motorcycle (All Traffic Infractions) by K9 Deputy Jason Garvey and Deputy Peter Merante.

Columbia County 911 detailed Deputies for a report that a male operator who fell off a moving motorcycle on Gregory Road in the Town of Ghent.

Deputies arrived at location and determined Olsen was intoxicated and operating a motorcycle on a public highway. No injuries were reported from the accident.

He was administered field sobriety tests, which he failed. Olsen was arraigned in Claverack Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond. He will appear in Ghent Town Court on July 8.
