STOCKPORT MAN ARRESTED FOR MAKING TERRORISTIC THREATS
Stockport, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that a Stockport man has been arrested for making terroristic threats against members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 19, 2019 at approximately 9:00pm, 52 year old Jeffrey A. Yeh of County Route 25 Stockport, New York was arrested and charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (Class D Felony) and Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor) by uniformed Deputies and Criminal Investigators.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation after they were alerted earlier this date that Mr. Yeh had posted videos on a social media site in which threats of violence were made against members of the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigative Branch of the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka, secured two separate search warrants for the purpose of collecting electronic evidence used in the crime. In addition, an arrest warrant was also signed for Yeh at that time. The Honorable Columbia County Court Judge Richard Koweek signed the warrants, which were served at 282 County Route 25, as well as at 59 County Route 25 in the Town of Stockport.
The defendant was taken into custody during the execution of the warrant, at which time he resisted arrest subsequently leading to the additional charge. During the arrest of Mr. Yeh, another man who was in the house, interfered with the Sheriff’s Office while making the arrest. David Fitting, age 62, of 20 State Route 9J Stockport, New York was arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration (Class A Misdemeanor). He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Stockport court at a later date.
Mr. Yeh was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Michael Rosen in the Town of Chatham Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 25, 2019 in the Town of Chatham.
