Arrest made in abandoned puppy case in Catskill

From Catskill Police:

The Catskill Police Department, after an investigation, announces the arrest of Unique Norfleet 22 yoa of Catskill, New York in the recent “Abandoned Puppy Case” in the Village of Catskill.

On December 9, 2019, The Catskill Police Department received a 911 call from Unique Norfleet reporting that he found a dog which seemed to be injured. Norfleet didn’t know who the dog belonged to or what to do with it. The case was immediately turned over to Town of Catskill Animal Control Officer who responded to the scene and took custody of the canine.

On December 12, 2019 Information was received from the press that a Good Samaritan had found an abandoned puppy “Rudy” who was crying and immobile on the side of Thompson Street. The Catskill Police Department initiated an investigation immediately and developed information that the dog actually belonged to the “Good Samaritan” Unique Norfleet.

Norfleet was arrested on December 13, 2019 for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the third degree (a class A Misdemeanor).

Investigation with Columbia-Grene ASPCA could not determine the origin of the injury to animal. This investigation is continuing
