Albany Police take two loaded handguns off the street as two men were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in separate incidents.

Police say they pulled Elquan Sturdivant over on Friday morning near Morton Ave and Delaware Ave. Officers found Sturdivant had a loaded handgun that he was trying to hide in his pants. The gun was reported stolen by police in Florida back in December of 2018.

Sturdivant was arraigned in Albany on Friday and released after making bail.

On Sunday night, police say they responded to a two car crash at Central Avenue and North Lake Ave.

Police say one of the drivers, identified as Lance Jorge of Albany, hit a utility pole and was still in the car when officers arrived at the scene. First responders were able to get him out of the car and found he had a gun on him.

Jorge was arraigned Monday morning and released.
