While the number of new coronavirus cases are rising statewide, Governor Cuomo says he's not going to announce new restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19.

The governor said on Monday any decisions on things like mask mandates or vaccination requirements will be made by local officials. But, if the number of infections skyrocket, the governor says the state would step in and declare a health emergency. The state's current COVID-19 positivity rate is just under 2.3 %, far below what it was at the height of the pandemic.
