SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS SCHENECTADY MAN FOR
CRIMINAL SEXUAL ACT
Ghent, NY- Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested a Schenectady man today at approximately 11:30am and charged him with Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree.
On May 31, 2017, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a reported sexual offense that occurred in the Town of Ghent between 2011 and 2014. The victim at the time of the incidents was between 7 and 9 years old. The Sheriff’s Office became aware of the abuse after a family member reported it to Deputy Zachary Sohotra.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of 20 year old Logan Burnett of Schenectady. He was charged with one count Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class B Felony.
Mr. Burnett was arraigned in Ghent Town Court before the Honorable Judge Joseph Bruno and was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail/$20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on July 10, 2017.
This arrest was made in cooperation with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, the Dr. Stephen and Suzanne Menkes Child Advocacy Center, and the Schenectady County Probation Department.
