Greenport accident caps off rough 36 hours on area roads

An accident Saturday night in Greenport capped off a rough 36 hours on area highways, with nine crashes, that sent patients to the hospital. The accident was on Mount Merino Road, where a vehicle rolled over just after 10pm. The man was reportedly able to get out, on his own.

Earlier Saturday evening, crashes in Greene County brought fire and rescue crews to Route 67 in Cairo, Main Street in Cairo, and route 81 in Coxsackie. The Main Street accident involved a motorcycle, who's operator was taken to Columbia Memorial.

On Saturday morning, one person was taken to Columbia Memorial, after they struck a utility pole in Germantown. Firemen were on the scene for nearly five hours on Route 9G.

A man was transported to Columbia Memorial after crashing Saturday morning in Ghent. The accident was just before 7:30 on Route 66 near Water Street.

An 18 year old man was taken to Albany Med Friday afternoon after his car struck a utility pole and went down an embankment in Valatie. It was on Route 203 at Winding Brook Country Club.

One person was taken to Berkshire Medical Center following a one car accident in Chatham. The vehicle rolled over, while exiting the Taconic Parkway northbound lanes, at Route 295.
