Changes to 5 1 8 area code happen in 3 days

We are just 3 days away from big changes in the 518 area code. Starting Saturday, all local calls will require dialing 5 1 8 before the seven digit number. If you don't dial 5 1 8 first, you will get a recording telling you the call will not go through, and please dial again.
Starting in September, new numbers assigned in the area, will have area code 8 3 8. Although the area code will be different, it will still be a local call.
