PRESS RELEASE-Saugerties Police
On August 30, 2017 at 5:11pm, Saugerties Police responded to a 911 call at 20 Mayfield Estates, in the Town of Saugerties, for a report of a man being chased by men with baseball bats. Upon arrival, police located the victim, a 32 year-old male from Rhinebeck, who was found lying on the ground semi- conscious, bleeding from both his face and head. The alleged attackers had fled prior to police arrival. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics from DIAZ Ambulance and then airlifted by helicopter from the scene to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie where he went under further treatment for his injuries.
Saugerties Police Detectives and uniform officers conducted an investigation into the attack. Subsequently obtaining video of the attack, establishing the identity of the attackers as, 31 year- old Vincent Neglia of 3691 Route 32 Saugerties, 22 year-old Russel Neglia of 3691 Route 32 Saugerties, and 22 year old Travis Gonzalez of 48 Victor’s Lane Saugerties.
On August 31,2017 Saugerties Police Arrested all three suspects charging Russel Neglia and Travis Gonzalez with the Felonies of Robbery in the First Degree, Gang Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree and the Misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Vincent Neglia was charges with the Felonies of Robbery in the First Degree, Gang Assault in the First Degree, and Assault in the First Degree.
All three defendants were arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court, Bail was set at $25,000 each. All three defendants posted bail at arraignment. The Court did issue an order of protection on behalf of the victim.
