Driver accused of going 166 miles an hour

STAATSBURG MAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES FOR TRAVELING 166 MPH RESULTING IN A CRASH.

On Wednesday October 4, 2017 at approximately 10:00 pm a Red Hook Police Officer was traveling northbound on State Rout 9G in the Town of Red Hook when an erratic 2004 Audi modified sports car traveling in the same direction passed the patrol car in the Southbound lane at 166 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

The patrol car activated its emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to s...top the vehicle. The vehicle failed to comply and continued northbound at a high rates of speed. The vehicle subsequently rear-ended another vehicle also traveling northbound on State Route 9G.

The driver of the offending vehicle identified as Kolby J. Schroder 27, of Staatsburg NY was taken into custody without incident. Both Schroder and the female operator of the vehicle that was rear-ended were not injured.

Schroder was processed and charged with Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, all misdemeanors as well as several traffic infractions. Schroder is due to appear in Town Court on October 26, 2017.
