Coxsackie traffic stop turns up multiple pre-paid gift cards

Two New York City men arrested for possessing Forged New York State Driver’s Licenses and multiple pre-paid gift cards (without receipts) subsequent to a traffic stop.

PRESS RELEASECoxsackie, NY – On November 7, 2017, at approximately 9:58 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the Town of Coxsackie for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. During the interview of the driver Naheem A. Niles, age 24, of Brooklyn, NY, for the traffic violations, probable cause to search the vehicle and occupants was established. Niles was found in possession of a forged New York State Driver’s License and multiple pre-paid gift cards with no receipts. The passenger Dunstan R, Edwards, age 26, of Jamaica, NY was also found in possession of a forged New York State Driver’s License and several pre-paid gift cards also with no receipts. Both men were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany and were subsequently charged with:

  • Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree; a Class D Felony (2 counts each)
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations (Niles only)

Both Niles and Edwards were arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and remanded to the Green County Jail. Niles was held in lieu of $5000. Cash or $10,000. Bond. Edwards is being held with no bail due to an extraditable warrant from another state. A return court date of November 13, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. has been set in the Town of Coxsackie.
