SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT IN GREENPORT
Greenport, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on November 16, 2017 at approximately 8:04pm, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to a one vehicle accident on Newman Road, just north of Hiscox Road in the Town of Greenport.
Deputies found that a 2010 Ford Fusion, operated by 26 year old Jeremy O. Decker of Hudson, was traveling southbound on Newman Road and left the pavement on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle went into a grassy area before striking a rock pile and several trees where the vehicle came to rest.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by Greenport Rescue Squad and Greenport Fire Department. Mr. Decker was transported to Albany Medical Center by Greenport Rescue Squad for an arm injury.
The passenger, 20 year old Brianne Teator of Elizaville, was also transported by Greenport Rescue Squad to Albany Medical Center for head, neck, and back injuries.
At this time, the investigation is currently in the preliminary stages; however, Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators are looking into speed and alcohol as contributing factors in the accident. Possible charges are pending and the Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
Greenport Rescue Squad, Greenport Fire Department and Greenport Police Department assisted at the scene.
Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office at the scene are Sheriff David Bartlett, Undersheriff John Davi, Investigator Kris Bauhoff, Sergeant Jeffrey Hofstetter, and Deputy Ryen Boehme.
