Salvation Army gets big donation

[Hudson, NY]—Terez and Richard Abatecola help kick off of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fundraising campaign. The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s annual fundraising event for operating support and The Abatecola’s generous support of $5,000 kicks off the season on the right foot.

Perhaps the most visible of our fundraisers, The Salvation Army relies on money raised in the red kettles to support social service programs year-round. All donations received in the kettles stay in Columbia and Green Counties where the contributions assist the local less fortunate.

“We have multiple kettles in Columbia and Greene Counties and we use those funds to local residents. We are really relying on our community to help their neighbors in need. Whatever amount people put into our Red Kettles, it is making change happen for our area,” says Jill Wishon, Executive Director.

Red Kettle funds support ongoing programs for the homeless, feeding the hungry, provide aid for victims of disaster, assistance to survivors of abuse and much more. Donations can also be made online at To volunteer to ring bells at a Red Kettle please call 518-822-1602.
