More on Chatham Train Accident

Chatham Fire and Chatham Rescue Squad Inc. were dispatched by Columbia County NY 911 with Chatham Police, Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police to a report of a train accident in the Village of Chatham, NY. Command requested mutual aid from Ghent Fire. 

It was determined a tow truck was assisting a motorist at the Austerlitz St crossing when a CSX train traveling through struck the tow truck. Traffic was diverted around the scene through the Village while emergency crews worked. 

At 1600 Chatham Fire was dispatched to a second AAPI on Locust St. a car traveling under the Train trestle struck a power pole. Your volunteers braved the cold weather for a couple of hours this afternoon to assist the community and ensure there were no further injuries.
