SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS STOCKPORT MAN FOR
Philmont, NY- Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested a Stockport man today at approximately 12:22pm and charged him with Sexual Abuse in the third degree, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child.
On January 8, 2018, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a reported sexual offense that occurred in the Village of Phillmont in 2017. The victim at the time of the incident was under 17 years old. The Sheriff’s Office became aware of the abuse after the victim reported it to Deputy Ian Boehme.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of 23 year old August Depolito. He was charged with sexual abuse in the third degree, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors according to the NYS Penal Law.
Mr. Depolito was arraigned in Village of Philmont Court before the Honorable Judge Russ Immarigeon and was released on his recognizance. He is scheduled to appear back in court on January 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
This arrest was made in cooperation with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, and the Dr. Stephen and Suzanne Menkes Child Advocacy Center.
