Churchtown Fire on the scene to two accidents Saturday morning

Churchtown firefighters were kept busy Saturday morning with a pair of accidents at the same time. The first was in the Northbound lanes of the Taconic Parkway, just south of Snydertown Road just before 8:30, where a car went down a ravine and ended up in the water. The man suffered a head injury but was able to get back to the road, where he was treated by Greenport Rescue. The car also struck a tree.

The second accident was on Route 23 at the Yorkshire Motel, where a 22 year old woman left the road and went down an embankment. She was also in and out of consciousness and was treated by Greenport rescue. Claverack firemen assisted at this one.

At the scene of both accidents, there was black ice reported.

**Updated info: Just before 10:30 Churchtown and Greenport rescue were called back to the Taconic Parkway, after a vehicle rolled over in the Northbound lanes near Bauer Road. The driver of that car refused medical treatment.
