Accident leads to charges for Cairo Woman

Charged Person’s Age: 32

Address of Person Charged: Cairo, NY

Narrative of What Occurred:

On February 10, 2018, at 1:19am, Saugerties Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Clark Van Vlierden Road. Upon arrival, investigating officers interviewed 32 year old Colett L. Spain. Investigation established that Spain had failed to maintain her lane, veering off the roadway into a guard rail and then into a tree where her vehicle (Mazda 6) came to final rest. 

Spain was not injured in the crash, however was intoxicated and as a result was taken into custody by officers. Spain was processed at Saugerties Police Headquarters on the Misdemeanor Charge of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC of .16%. Spain was additionally charged with the Violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. 

Spain was released to a third party and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court on February 21, 2018 to answer her charges.
