4-H Supports Food Pantry While Bowling

Almost 80 4-H club members contributed to boxes full of food donated to the Philmont Food Pantry at the February 10 4-H Bowling Party and Can Drive held at the Hoe Bowl Catskill Lanes. All 4-H members, family and friends of 4-H clubs in Columbia and Greene Counties had a blast at this annual winter fun day. As each 4-H member entered the Hoe Bowl they dropped off their canned goods. 4-H members and their families filled most of the Hoe Bowl for two hours of fun. We so appreciate the hospitality from of all the Hoe Bowl staff!

This annual event, which began in 1996 as a roller skating party, has supported food pantries for all of its 22 years. The Teen Ambassador 4-H Clubs of Greene and Columbia plan and host the Bowling Party and Can Drive. They select a different food pantry each year to be the recipient of this 4-H generosity.

Door prize drawings took place for those who donated to the food pantry. The winners were: Michelle Heck, Norah Schweter, Noah Kilmer, Ryan Young, Margaret Carlson, Ella Dillen, Hailey Schrull, Emmet Fullins, Alex Pirrone, Izabelle Shultz, Aleric Culley, Edward Ross, Zane Huntley, Jessica Scarlata, Oliver Schrull, Anna Purdy and Hester Culley. Prizes were 4-H items including sunglasses, bandanas, pens and balls.
