PJ KEELER TO BE HONORED WITH BOY SCOUTS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America has announced Columbia County Treasurer and EMS Coordinator PJ Keeler of Claverack as their 2018 Columbia County, Yankee District, Good Scout Award honoree.
In addition to decades of service in his community volunteer fire department and ambulance service, Keeler is credited with significant achievements and reforms both in county government and the county’s emergency medical services system.
As Columbia County Treasurer, PJ Keeler’s leadership and effort led to the development of a new Columbia County Central Business Office, or “CBO.” Today, the CBO is responsible for county departmental business analysis, employee survey data, staffing studies and technology analysis. The office centralizes business, people, and technology functions. Its creation resulted in costs savings and improved efficiency – saving tax dollars.
As EMS Coordinator, PJ is driven to improve patient care and ambulance response times. His determination, steadfast leadership, and ability to problem solve and bring parties together resulted in an award winning, cost efficient, county-wide ambulance service for Columbia County; a system that counties across the state seek to emulate today. As a result, PJ was recognized with an EMS Leadership Award by the State of New York for his work creating the new EMS system.
The Annual Boy Scout Award Dinner takes place Thursday, April 12, at Winding Brook County Club in Valatie. Ken Wilber will serve as Chairman and Master of Ceremonies. The Columbia County Agricultural Society will also be honored at the event with the Glen Wallace Community Service Above Self Award.
The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the dinner and program at 6:30.
Funds raised for this event will help to ensure ongoing support of our local Boy Scout organization.
