We've learned that Sheriff Greg Seeley and a few County Legislators have decided to close the Greene County Jail, on a temporary basis, because of concerns about the safety of the structure. The remaining inmates are being sent to Columbia and Ulster Counties. A structural engineering firm is evaluating the building. The County has been in talks for some time, on what to do with the building in Catskill. We first reported a few months ago, that the Greene County Jail was ranked second worst in the state.
