These are the homes that are the scene of the overnight fire in Saugerties. At least ten are injured, some were taken to Albany med by helicopter. Many are in the hospital this morning. The fire was first reported before 2:30 at 22 Russell Street. Close to a dozen companies responded. The main home was fully involved when first units arrived. Multiple ambulances were requested to the scene by Saugerties Police. Crews are expected to remain through the morning.
American Red Cross Aids Seven After Saugerties Fire
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 21, 2018) - Volunteers from the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid toseven people after a multi-family fire early Saturday morning on Russell Street in Saugerties (Ulster County).
The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to six adults and a 9-year-old child. Volunteers also offered emotional support, health services, comfort kits containing personal care items, and a stuffed animal for the child. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
