The Philmont woman, who was behind the wheel, during a deadly car-pedestrian accident last September in Philmont, was sentenced Thursday in Columbia County Court. The Columbia County D.A's office says Jennifer McGrath-Jennings will serve 2 to 7 years in state prison. She plead guilty to the charges in February.

On 9/25/17 Livingston Troopers responded to a Columbia County 911 call for a reported serious injury truck vs. pedestrian hit and run accident on Main St. in the Village of Philmont.
The operator of the vehicle that fled the scene was located and identified as Jennifer McGrath-Jennings, 24 of Philmont. The investigation by the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Uniform Troopers revealed that Jennings, while backing the vehicle up, struck a female pedestrian in the parking lot of Family Dollar.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center by Greenport Rescue Squad where she succommbed to her injuries.An investigation in partnership with Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka's Office resulted in the arrest of McGrath-Jennings for Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd and Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident, both Class D Felonies; DWI and Reckless Driving, both Unclassified Misdemeanors; and Unsafe backing. McGrath-Jennings was arraigned in front of the Honorable Michael Cozzolino in the Town of Claverack Court. She was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash / $50,000 bond bail. She is set to return to court on 9/29/17 at 4 pm.
The victim of the accident is identified as Mrs. Carol Milligan, 85 of Ghent, NY.State Police Livingston BCI is continuing the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding it is requested to contact the BCI at 518-851-2982.
