Higganum, CT man arrested for Felony DWI after driving wrong way on the New York State Thruway.

PRESS RELEASECanaan, NY – On April 29, 2018, at approximately 12:14 a.m., State Police responded to the area of I-90, in the Town of Canaan for a report of a possible wrong way driver. State Police located a vehicle with a single male occupant parked facing eastbound in the westbound lane. During the interview of the driver of the vehicle, Ronald S. Gamache, age 47, of Higganum, CT, he was found to be intoxicated. He was transported and processed at SP Albany. Additionally, he has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result he was subsequently charged with:
- Driving While Intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years; a Class E Felony
- Reckless Driving; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Gamache was arraigned in the Town of Canaan Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500. Cash or $2000. Bond. Return court date of May 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. has been set in the Town of Canaan Court. Minor injuries reported.
