Update: Report from DEC
Town of HunterGreene CountyWildland Search: On the morning of May 12, Hunter Police asked Forest Rangers to help find a missing 73-year-old Haines Falls man who had not returned from riding his utility vehicle (UTV) the previous evening. Police and Rangers quickly found the abandoned UTV. Eight rangers along with local police, firefighters, and K-9s made extensive and intensive searches of the area and found the immobile man at 4 p.m. He was quickly carried to an ambulance and hospitalized for injuries related to exposure.
A search for a 70 year old man, deep in the woods off 117 Haines Road in the town of Hunter, ended with a happy ending. Saturday's weather made search conditions even harder. Fire and rescue companies, Police, Forest Rangers, and volunteers were all on the scene in Haines Falls. The search began just after 1pm.
Here is the recap from Tannersville Fire Department:
Today Tannersville Fire & Rescue assisted Haines Falls Fire and Hunter police search for a 70 yo male that went missing. With rain, cool temps and working in a heavily wooded area made all seem dismal.
Additional help from NYS DEC, State Police, Greene Cty Sheriff, Hunter/Lanesville/Palenville Fire and Albany Cty Sheriff/Fire K9 as well as many community members I can say the subject was located in good health.
After a long ordeal subject removed from woods and transported to hospital for Eval by Hunter Ambulance/Greene Cty EMS. I personally want to thank all of them for the great job they did and no one else got hurt. GREAT JOB!!
