Forecast from Channel 6
An "enhanced" risk of severe weather this afternoon for the Capital Region into the Mid-Hudson Valley/Catskills/Berkshires......
We'll then see some sunshine unfolding around early afternoon before a line of downpours and strong thunderstorms come together beginning around 2, 3pm.
Severe weather is most likely across the southern half of our area where the atmosphere will be more unstable- if you work outside or plan to be outside during these hours, keep a close eye on the sky and check the radar if you can.
Today's storms will likely produce locally damaging wind and torrential rain ..but if any supercells form, we could see large hail and even an isolated and brief tornado ..this would be most likely over those areas under the "enhanced risk" that were mentioned above (southern counties).
Beyond 6pm, the severe weather threat will diminish and the humidity will drop into the overnight period.
