Chatham man arrested for illegal possession of firearms as a felon after discharging weapon near apartment building

On June 2, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Eric Humbert, age 47, of Chatham, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, both class A misdemeanors, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, an unclassified misdemeanor.
On June 2, 2018, Troopers were dispatched to Hudson Avenue in the village of Chatham for a report of gun fire at approximately 2:30 p.m. Once on scene the suspect, Humbert, was found armed in his residence. Troopers convinced Humbert to surrender peacefully. Humbert, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in illegal possession of a Marlin 32 Special model 336 rifle, a Marlin model 60, and a 20-gauge shotgun.
Humbert was arraigned before the town of Chatham Court, and released on his own recognizance.
