Traffic stop leads to arrest of Greenport man

Greenport, NY man arrested for possession of cocaine and marihuana subsequent to a traffic stop.

On June 17, 2018, at approximately 11:29 p.m., State Police were monitoring vehicles approaching the Catskill Interchange on I-87, in the town of Catskill. While monitoring vehicles probable cause to stop and search a vehicle and its occupants was established. A passenger in the vehicle, John S. Davi, age 26, of Greenport, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 2 grams of cocaine, and approximately 9.5 grams of marihuana. He was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Albany, where he was subsequently charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree; a Class D Felony (cocaine)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation

Davi was arraigned before the town of Catskill Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $500. cash or $ No return court date available at this time. The driver of the vehicle and one additional passenger were issued appearance tickets for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and released without further charges.
