State Police have identified the deceased in the two Greene County fatal accident, that we first reported on Saturday: Charges are pending in both accidents
On 07/14/18, State Police investigated a Car vs Motorcycle fatal accident on State Route 145 at the intersection of Lincoln Dr in the Town of Cairo. The accident occurred at 1:45pm and it was determined that a 2018 Subaru being operated by a Chrisine Cepale, age 79, from Windham, N.Y. was travelling Eastbound on Lincoln Dr and crossed State Route 145 directly into the path of a 1988 Kawasaki Motorcycle being operated by Kevin Sweeney, age 55, of Catskill, N.Y.
The motorcycle struck the car in the front passenger side causing Sweeney to be ejected. Sweeney was taken to an awaiting helicopter for transport, but succumbed before he was able to be loaded into the aircraft.
Cepale and her husband, Robert Cepale, age 85 were transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Cairo Police Dept, Greene County Sheriff's Office, The Cairo Fire Dept and Cairo Ambulance.
On 07/14/18 State Police investigated a UTV accident that occurred on Brand Hollow Rd in the Town of Durham that occurred at 5:41pm. Emergency personnel from both Greene and Albany Counties responded to the incident as it was reported near the county line on an unpaved road.
It was determined that a 2109 Polaris UTV was being operated by Scott Colleran, age 51 of Lindenhurst, N.Y. Northbound on Brand Rd when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and travelled off the east shoulder striking a tree, killing the front passenger, Jeff Kuhn, age 53 of East Northport, N.Y.
The UTV was occupied by Colleran, Kuhn and three other passengers at the time of the accident. Collern and one of other passengers were treated at Columbia Memorial hospital for injuries sustained in the accident the other two occupants were not injured.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending. State Police were assisted by the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Albany County EMS, Town of Durham Police, Oak Hill Fire Dept and Tri Village Fire Dept.
