Hudson traffic stop turns up $17,000 cash, drugs & weapon

Traffic Stop ends in Drug/Tazer/Cash Seizure

On July 13, 2018, the Hudson City Police Department arrested 19 year old, Austin M. Szepessy of Livingston, New York for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th Degree, a class A misdemeanor and 19 year old, Brianna Young of Palenville, New York for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

On July 13, 2018, at approximately 9:58 pm, School Resource Officer (SRO) Hoffman observed a vehicle traveling north on North 4th Street without headlamps or tail lamps. SRO Hoffman stopped the vehicle and upon approaching the vehicle a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from inside the vehicle. The front passenger, Austin Szepessy admitted he had marijuana in the center console of the vehicle. Szepessy was found to be in possession of 53.4 grams of Marijuana along with a black shopping bag that was under the marijuana that contained over $15,000 dollars in cash, all in one hundred dollar bills. The driver of the vehicle (18 years old) also possessed an additional $2,339.00 in cash belonging to Szepessy. Brianna Young, a third passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of a taser/flashlight. Police seized all the drugs, over $17,000 in cash, a small digital scale, and a tazer.

The driver of the vehicle was released on the scene and issued a traffic ticket for no headlamps. Szepessy and Young were both transported to HPD, processed and issued appearance tickets. The tickets were made returnable to the Hudson City Court on July 17, 2018 at 830am.
