Coxsackie traffic stop turns up over 3 pounds of pot

Bergenfield, NJ man arrested for being in possession of over three pounds of Marihuana subsequent to a traffic stop.

PRESS RELEASECoxsackie, NY – On July 21, 2018, at approximately 2:45 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Coxsackie for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the interview of the driver for the traffic violation, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established. The driver Derrick A. Vaz, age 52, of Bergenfield, NJ, was found to be in possession of approximately 3.2 pounds of marihuana. Vaz was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Albany, were he was subsequently charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd degree; a Class D Felony
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violation

Vaz was arraigned in the town of New Baltimore Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $ or $10,000. Bond. Return court date of July 26, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. has been set for the Town of Coxsackie Court.
